Not to be dramatic, but I tend to avoid bright colours as if they were Trump supporters. When I’m not traipsing around the streets of Tribeca dressed like an escaped Oompa Loompa (which, shockingly enough, is actually most days), I tend to stick to whites, beiges, greys, and blacks for my clothing.
The one vibrant hue I do love is red. I love red in all its forms—deep wine tones being particular favourites of mine—but lately have been seeing heaps of tomato red and I am HERE for it.
Well I would be if I weren’t broke and had to do things like pay rent. Then I would really be here for it, and set about swapping all my clothes for cherry red options.
While it wasn’t necessarily a standout shade for SS18 per say, bright red did have a moment elsewhere. Street style stars, street style star wannabes, and street signs (shoutout to the “Stop” sign, the OG purveyor of this trend) alike were all sporting red at one point or another. Which as far as I’m concerned, means that the colour is having a moment. And that merits an angsty, Tumblr-approved moodboard on the good ol’ blog. So here we are, a digital moodboard of sorts to be used as #inspo (ew) or Pinterest fodder. Whatever floats your tomato-red boat.
