Reasons why I love these mirrored sunglasses:
- You can’t see my eyes at all; more importantly, you can’t see my under-eye circles or judgmental look I’m giving you for wearing Crocs on the streets of New York
- I can use them to check for food in my teeth in a much more discreet way than pulling out the front-facing camera on my iPhone or consulting the compact mirror I do not have because, you know, this isn’t 1945
- They look badass
Mirrored sunnies have been on my “must-acquire” list for a century and a half. Ever since I saw a herd of betchy-looking young women with the hair of Kate Middleton in workout gear that costs more than my monthly rent make their way down 5th Ave —presumably post-Soulcycle, pre-green juice bar— in matching mirrored sunglasses last autumn, completely masking any emotion that might try to escape from their carefully-contoured faces. These women were cool. They were chic. They did not let things like eager pamphlet distributers or rogue tourist selfie sticks faze them. I wanted to be them.
So I got my own pair. And since obtaining these sunglasses I’ve taken great pleasure in staring down strangers on the street and delighting in their uncomfortable reaction at not fully knowing if I’m judging them or not.
(Approximately 90% of the time, I am. I’m about as non-judgmental as a Greek mother and just as discreet.)
Where did I find this marvelous pair of mirrored sunglasses, you might enquire? The lovely people at WearMe Pro, a family-owned eyewear brand that sells uber-trendy sunglasses at affordable prices, reached out to see if I wanted to try a new service they’re rolling out. They are launching a sunglasses subscription box aptly called Shadesbox that arrive on your doorstep seasonally every three months, for only $29.99 per season.
AKA you get three pairs of new sunglasses mailed to you in each box for less than $10 a pair. And since summer is rapidly approaching and you may want to, I don’t know, step outside in the sun every once in a while, 10/10 experts and also myself would recommend trying Shadesbox ASAP. Even better, you can completely customize your selections by taking this questionnaire to tailor your sub box to your personal style.
Stay tuned for more posts featuring the other two gorgeous sunnies from my Shadesbox! In the meantime, do yourself (and your accessories collection) a favour and sign yourself up for a sub box too. Happy shopping, ladies and gents.
**Thank you to WearMe Pro for sending me these bomb sunglasses to feature in a post! As always, all opinions are my own**
