So I know it seems kind of counterintuitive to be posting a long pants and sweater look in the middle of May.
HOWEVER, it’s been grey and cold and rainy for the past few weeks in Virginia, because apparently April showers also bring May showers. Plus, it’s about to be winter in the southern hemisphere. I do not live in the southern hemisphere, nor do I have plans to be there anytime soon, but here on WhatKumquat we are all about inclusivity. So here we are.
Lately I’ve been loving statement pants.
This obsession comes at a rather timely point in my life because I’m about to start looking for a summer job/internship followed eventually by a real job/internship (send prayers and pizza, please) and I need to start building a work wardrobe ASAFP.
And no store does the “young urban millennial professional on a mission for soy lattes and in possession of a 5 year plan” vibe quite like Banana Republic does, amirite ladies?
I love the flow and material of these Banana Republic pants because they are airy enough to wear in the earlier months of summer and not die of heat. They’re also the perfect work pant paired with a button down or simple chiffon shirt, but I’m trying to hold on to my youth for as long as possible (plus dat prep life is not for me) so I chose a baggier turtleneck sweater instead. Baggy clothes are much more me.
If you’re in the market for new clothes to suit a summer internship or real-life job (solidarity, sister), OR if you’re going through a style revamp and want to find a more sophisticated wardrobe that fits your ambitions to become Oprah or Anna Wintour, be sure to check out Banana Republic. You’ll definitely find something that you’ll like and your mother will approve of.
**thank you to Banana Republic for sending me the trousers for this post! As always, all opinions are my own**
