Olive x Black

We have experienced an unusually warm November. It’s throwing me off. Tis the season for tacky Christmas cat sweaters courtesy of Goodwill and sensible corduroys and bulky scarves that cover the majority of your face (#nomakeupmondays amirite ladies). Tis not the season for thin sweaters and slip on shoes.

Yet here we are.

I am fully aware that it’s December and my mother is reading this somewhere in horror, possibly yelling “put on socks or the draft will kill you!” at the computer screen. I intend to embrace the holiday season fully in due time, tacky sweaters abound, but for now… I’m relishing this last bit of decent weather before the Ice Age kicks in.

These slip on shoes have been a staple in my closet for the past two years and while it’s true that they’re not the best for the cold since they provide zero warmth, they’re so. damn. comfortable. If I lived in California or some place that does not have the pleasure of experiencing frostbite, I would be wearing these year round with a pair of skinnies for an effortlessly quick on-the-go look.

I paired mine with some olive skinnies (I tried to emulate the moto pants trend as best I could given the contents of my wardrobe. And failed) and a black sweater that is a sweater in name only because let me tell you, I’ve had socks that are warmer than this thing. No matter though, because I liked the white stripes on the side and as I have previously established it’s warm outside. Sensible clothing is for the cold.
