Slutty Brownies

IMG_4565Some people celebrate the end of midterms with sleep, drinking, or a manicure. I much prefer going the health-conscious route and baking something diabetes-inducing, because everyone knows that calories don’t count after midterms. It’s the same philosophy that applies to any food ingested after 11 pm on weekends.

The result: slutty brownies. These are crack bars with a chocolate chip cookie base, Oreo middle, and brownie topping that taste absolutely euphoric. For the prime slutty brownie experience, I recommend underbaking these a little because there is nothing in this world that quite compares to warm, gooey brownie over soft and chewy cookies.

IMG_4555 IMG_4557 IMG_4564 IMG_4566Line a 9×9″ tin with parchment paper and set the oven to 200C. First, make the cookies: cream the butter and sugars in a bowl. Add the eggs, then the dry ingredients, and finally the chopped up chocolate. Press the mixture onto the bottom of the baking pan, making sure it’s even because otherwise you’ll ruin the cookie-to-brownie ratio and end up with some weird hybrid that I cannot guarantee will taste good. Next place the Oreos in an even pattern across the cookie dough. To make the brownies: in a small pot, melt the butter and chocolate together until smooth and not burnt. Add to the sugar and mix until you can’t notice the grains. Beat in the eggs and vanilla, then add the flour and salt. Pour the mixture evenly on top of your beautiful creation, then bake in the oven for 35-55 minutes. I am aware that this is a ridiculously broad range, but I don’t know how well-cooked you want the finished product. You do you.
